Freeland, WA (PRWEB) August 15, 2005 -- Artemis Solution Group
(USA)(
http://www.artemis-usa.com ) and Microsoft Corporation jointly
announce they have reached a confidential settlement agreement
resolving a trademark infringement action filed by ASG regarding its
registered trademark, BioCert®.
ASG's intellectual property lawyers, Ken M. Peterson (
http://www.morrislaing.com
) and Jack Baldwin (
http://www.baldwinlaw.com ) announce they are satisfied
Microsoft has proceeded in good faith.
As part of the confidential settlement, ASG will retain its
trademark rights and will dismiss its action against Microsoft.
"Artemis is a key player in the biometric security field," said
David Harnett, of Microsoft. "As an intellectual property company,
we respect the IP rights of others and are pleased to resolve this
matter amicably."
Artemis Solutions Group (
www.artemis-usa.com ) is a global leader in Smart Card and
Biometric security solutions.
ASG's BioCert® Authenticator Toolkit (
www.biocert.us ) has been
helping developers, business managers and software engineers
integrate fingerprint biometric identification within their
applications for well over 3 years. All functions of this applet are
accomplished with a simple "drop-in" module embedded within a
developers application or database.
"Traditional software development kits (SDK) incorporating
biometrics require a substantial amount of programming experience at
a very high level. Our BioCert toolkits are designed to allow users
with very little effort to immediately integrate biometrics within
their custom applications, databases and other business critical
software." - Marc Potvin, BioCert Authenticator Project Manager for
ASG.
The BioCert Authenticator Toolkits are designed to be used as a
drop-in (.ocx) module for use with Visual Basic (VB), VB.net and
Microsoft VB for Applications (MS Office). Business managers and
their internal programmers will easily and efficiently be able to
add biometric authentication to any Excel spreadsheet, Word
document, Outlook Email Client, Access Database or any application
written in VB, FoxPro, C++ or VB.net.
ASG markets a suite of fingerprint biometric products including
home and business door locks, memory clip drives and fingerprint PC
login software under the BioCert label and is continuing to develop
new consumer applications for fingerprint biometric authentication.
